Luxury chocolate brand, Guylian among winners of ISM Middle East Awards

Belgian based premium chocolate confectionery business, Guylian, has emerged as among winners at this year’s ISM awards held in Dubai last night, writes Neill Barston.
The company won the best brand story, which recently complete a fresh revamp of its packaging, was first created in 1958, with its origins wrapped up in a romantic tale.
As the business explained, brought together by their love for each other and chocolate, Belgian chocolatier Guy Foubert and his fiancée Liliane created the chocolate Seashells as an homage to their relationship and their honeymoon on their native coastline. Consequently, the newlyweds combined their first names to form ‘Guylian’ and released the Original Seashells shortly after.
The awards were presented in a special evening event last night, with events director Mark Napier helping preside over proceedings, alongside Gerald Bose, the president and CEO of the Koelnmesse group.
Among winners this year was, Best Bakery Product winner, Flatzel Seasoned Pretzel Thins by Venus Biskuvi San ve, and Best
Hard and Soft Candy winner Compass Intense by Powermints.
Meanwhile, Best Healthy Snack Pistachio Protein Cream by Bronte Dolci Srl, Best Packaging saw Compass Intense by Powermints gain additional honours on the night.
For its part, Guylian,’ An Eternal Love Story’ by Chocolaterie Guylian impressed judges of the awards, while Best Organic Product Quince-Raspberry Energy Bar by Laci Ltd.
Furthermore, Best Traditional Product was named as Freeze Dried Turkish Delight by Alko Confectionery, and finally, Best Chocolate Product Kunafa Chocolate by Lee Chocolate, which is active within the UAE market.
