Lakrids by Bülow forges special limited edition Valentines liquorice creations

Danish confectionery company Lakrids by Bülow is hoping for a slice of the Valentine’s action with its latest Love Collection selection box distinctively flavoured liquorice, writes Neill Barston.
The new series is also complemented by two single-flavour jars in the form of fan-favourite, Strawberries and Cream, and new Peaches variety, with the centres for each type featuring individual pieces shaped like a heart, designed to reflect the care and dedication that goes into the company’s manufacturing in Copenhagen.
Speaking previously to Confectionery Production, the company’s founder, Johan Bülow (see our exclusive video interview with him here) remains especially passionate about the business he created more than 15 years ago, explaining that there has been a strong sense of momentum for the business, as it continues to open up retail stores around Europe, including in the UK.
As the business added, it remains on a mission to make the world fall in love with liquorice, which the company added hopes will especially be the case with its Valentines special editions, with its Strawberries and Cream version available at $24. The peach offering, priced the same, combines the sweetness of peaches with a centre of sweet liquorice, enveloped in white chocolate and a hint of passionfruit. The finishing touch is a crispy sugar shell.
The Love Selection Box has been developed for gifting, featuring a mix of beloved classics and exclusive limited editions: Strawberries and Cream, Fruity Caramel, Milkshake, F-Dark and Sea Salt, C- Coffee Kieni, D-Salt and Caramel and Classic- Salty Caramel, retailing at $44.
According to the business, Like all of its products, the Love Collection was created with sustainability at the forefront. As of 2019, the brand is the first confectionery company in the world to use 100% recycled plastic. Producing all liquorice products at its Danish headquarters, the company added that it remains especially proud of the fact that for the past four years it has run entirely on green energy.
