For next month’s fast approaching ProSweets Cologne event, Walterwerk Kiel’s specialist wafer baking operations are set to showcase some of the latest trends developing across the confectionery sector.

The company, which played its part in the reduced format three-day event in Germany this year, which took place in April, will be returning for the 2024 edition, which is being staged at the Koelnmesse event venue between 28-21 January, alongside almost 250 businesses from across the international industry.

As the German-based business noted, it will offer the chance to highlight several new wafer-chocolate products. Indeed, the combination of chocolate and crunchy sweet wafer is becoming increasingly popular. As the company noted, there has been an enhanced focus on cones, as fillings such as chocolate have become increasingly popular.

In response, the company observed that the so-called mini cones with a size of 60-65 mm are quite popular for some time now. But now there is a new trend coming: micro cones! With a length of only 35-45 mm they look like the tip of an ice cream cone which is exactly as intended. The simple reason for this is that many consumers see the chocolate-filled tip of their ice cream cone as the highlight of the eating experience. Now you can have a whole bag full of these tips.

To make them look like the broken tip of an ice cream cone, Walter has developed its own component for shortening the cone. The advantage of this product over the individually sold and wrapped mini cones is the fact that it is sold in bulk for snacking in a stand-up bag. The business concluded that it is looking forward to meeting customers to discuss its range of smart industry solutions for wafer-chocolate combinations at ProSweets, where it is exhibiting at booth D-008 in hall 10.1. directly at the hall entrance.
