Welsh-based bean-to-bar confectionery business Baravelli’s Artisan Chocolatiers of Conwy, has created a stunning giant Easter Egg as part of a Red Cross prize draw appeal in support of war-torn Ukraine, writes Neill Barston.
The company, which has been at the forefront of the country’s hand crafted confectionery movement has gained a total of over 50 accolades for its work, including recognition from the International Chocolate Awards, The Academy of Chocolate, Great Taste and Wales the True Taste.
In addition, the company is believed to be the first bean-to-bar. producer in Wales, priding itself on making all of its products on site in Conwy.
As the business explained, its latest offering in support of Ukraine following Russia’s invasion last month, weighs in at 10kg, and will be claimed by an individual selected at random in a draw.
It has been hand painted and cast by Master Chocolatier Emma Baravelli, who created a design based on evening sunlight shining on Ukrainian fields of wheat and sunflowers in the foreground. A deep blue background represents the sky, mountains and streams of this beautiful country. On the back of the egg is the Ukrainian Flag.
Th egg has been created to support the Red Cross, with a prize draw taking place on 19th April – all proceeds will go to the charities operations in Ukraine.
Commenting on its charitable work, the Baravelli’s team said: “On the first day alone over £1000 was raised and here at Baravelli’s we continue to be amazed by people’s generosity. We have all seen the devastating and heart-breaking scenes coming from Ukraine in recent weeks.
“Throughout the humanitarian crisis sparked by this conflict, the British Red Cross has been providing aid to help civilians on the ground. They are distributing food and hygiene parcels, warm clothing and training civilians in first aid. It is an organisation and a cause that Baravelli’s is extremely proud to support.” Donations can be made via a JustGiving page: www.justgiving.com/UkraineEasterEggAppeal
