Ixia launches new U card denester for bakery sector
Ixia Packaging Systems has developed a high performance denester for the bakery sector.
This machine has been designed to automatically pick, fold and place U card or acetate pack bases on to a flighted conveyor ready for filling and wrapping.
U cards or acetates are used to line the base of flow-wrapped packs containing bakery items such as hot cross buns or bread rolls.
For added flexibility, the denester incorporates the Snapdragon’ quick-change tooling designed to allow the operator to change card or acetate types and sizes in less than two minutes. In addition, the machine’s flexible folding mechanism is capable of handling a range of U Card styles including perforated or scored versions.
Richard van den Berg, managing director at IXIA Packaging Systems comment, “We designed and built this new machine following complaints from the bakery sector that existing denesters were unreliable and more trouble than they were worth’. U cards often have to be pre-folded prior to insertion into the flow-wrapping machine, or simply left flat in the hope that they would miraculously fold by themselves. The new system provides the bakery sector with a solution that will reduce labour costs and boost production efficiencies and pack quality.”
As well as denesting equipment, IXIA offers a wide range of lidding, closing and gating systems for a variety of food sectors.
