Miwe expands bakery operations in centennial year with Dubai facilities

German-based bakery systems business Miwe is marking its centennial year through expanding its range of facilities with a new company branch in Dubai, UAE.

The ninth subsidiary of the equipment manufacturer will be operational at its new site within the Dubai Silicon Oasis free trade zone from 31 March 2019.

It will function alongside other countries in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), including Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar and Bahrain, as well as sub-Saharan Africa and Pakistan.

As the company noted, the aim of the new Miwe Middle East FZE branch is to deepen existing business relationships, strengthen and promote the company brand in the region as well as support established local distribution and service partners in a targeted way.

Furthermore, a dedicated showroom allows the subsidiary to offer training in products and application technology and provides a forum not only for in-depth consultations, but also for knowledge transfer, which is indispensable for producers of baked goods.

The company’s general manager, Wilhelm Tittes, is head of local coordination and organisation at the subsidiary. He has 18 years of experience in the region and has acquired many of MIWE’s existing customers or has served them for a long time. He is supported by experienced service technicians and experts in the region, by the regional sales manager Middle East at MIWE Michael Wenz, Sylvain Degens, as well as by the sales support team.

Founded in Arnstein by Michael Wenz in 1919, the company has seen global demand for its equipment across the area of climate-controlled process stages of baking (baking, refrigerating, proofing, freezing), automation technology, implementation of energy-efficient bakeries and plant construction.

As a pioneer of in-store baking, the business made a considerable impact on the baked goods market from the 1970s, now led by the company’s third generation, Sabine Michaela Wenz, who has managed the business since 2002. It now operates  nine subsidiaries (in the USA, Canada, Russia, Austria, France, Italy, Singapore, Switzerland and the United Arab Emirates) as well as 50 representative offices, enabling the business to maintain close connections with its global customer base.
