Got a sweet tooth? There’s a ‘braw’ new Scottish sweet brand in town

Yaldi look set to satisfy many a sweet craving since its launch last week.

Calling themselves Glasgow’s answer to Willie Wonka, flying saucers, fish n’ chips, cola cubes and sour plums are just some of the sugary treats available on its website. Traditional Scottish sweets such as boiled Saltires, Irn Bru and Buckie creams are available, through to more modern flavours including gin and tonic or Prosecco balls. The packaging comes in a variety of designs including Greedy Guts, Munchie Boxes, Braw Bottles and Milk Cartons.

Lynne & Alan Peacock, Yaldi director/owner said: “We are absolutely buzzing about the launch of Yaldi. We’ve got the ‘brawest’ sweeties and the best banter, all wrapped up to make a crackin’ gift. We’ve worked our socks off to get this right and we hope you love it as much as we do.”

Shoppers can ’Pick Yer Patter’ and write a message to a friend or loved one in old Glasgow chat, such as ‘Gaun Yersel’ (Go for it) and ‘Cheers Big Ears’. The user-friendly e-commerce website is written in Scottish, but one click translates it into plain English.

Subscriptions are available for a surprise monthly sugar fix and for a corporate or special occasions, customers can visit the Jobs n’ Jollies section. At the moment Yaldi is exclusively available online, but has plans for retail.
