Jack Steijn to present a keynote at the Tea & Coffee World Cup

Tea & Coffee World Cup is delighted to announce that Jack Steijn, co-founder of Equipoise, consultancy for sustainable commodities, and chair of the ISO and CEN Committees on Sustainable and Traceable Cocoa, will be speaking at this year’s Tea & Coffee World Cup exhibition (26-28 September 2017, Singapore).

The topic of his keynote speech will be – An ISO standard for sustainable and traceable cocoa, would that work for coffee too?

He will address the following topics:

  • – sustainability issues in cocoa
  • – what is being done to address these issues
  • – the development of existing sustainability labels and company-owned sustainability programmes
  • – the content and expected impact of the new ISO standard
  • – a comparison with coffee and the possible role and impact of an ISO standard.

It helps companies and organisations engage with sustainability projects and raise the sustainability standard for their activities to maintain customer satisfaction and safeguard continuity. The company is the organiser of Chocoa Amsterdam, the annual meeting place for cocoa producers and other stakeholders in the cocoa supply chain.

Jack holds a Masters degree in economics from the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam. He comments: “We have a business case sustainability for every stakeholder in the cocoa value chain, I am sure there is one in the coffee value chain too.”
