Fine foods company expands

Five new jobs have been created within as many months at Filbert’s Fine Foods, doubling the number of employees at the company since it moved to Somerset, UK earlier this year.
Filbert’s Fine Foods manufactures premium, all natural fine food snacks and antipasti delicacies. The two full-time and three part-time positions are as a result of the company’s recent growth and the newly expanded team is now working on Christmas orders for major retailers including Harrods and Booths.
Filbert’s Fine Foods relocated to West Pennard near Glastonbury at the end of April 2013, having outgrown its previous premises in Dorset. Managing director Mark Taylor says Somerset was its first choice when looking to move the business thanks to its affordable property and excellent transport connections, close to the M4 and M5, and with direct rail links into London in under two hours.
The relocation has been good for the business, which is going from strength to strength in its new home already. Taylor said: “We’ve improved our efficiency straight away here, which has given us immediate cost savings. Whilst there is a larger overhead, our business is already about 30% up on last year, which will probably finish up being more like 45% by the end of the year.”
