I’m not convinced
More research has been released this week that speaks of the health benefits of chocolate.
The study claims that people who consume chocolate regularly have a lower BMI. And, although the research takes into account variable factors such as exercise frequency etc and states there is only one chance in a hundred that the findings could be explained by chance alone, I personally am not convinced that this is a good message to send out to the public.
Obesity rates are growing in the UK, as well as the occurrence of related cardiovascular diseases. If people need to lose weight, consuming more chocolate doesn’t seem like the best option. Maybe fruit and vegetables are a better alternative?
Perhaps these findings can be explained by the fact that people with a higher BMI are less likely to eat chocolate on a regular basis because they’re watching their weight.
