Nothing says Christmas like cranberries

Fruit ingredient business Jo Sims reports higher than usual interest in cranberry based limited editions this Christmas, as its customers seek to tap in to the festive market.
“Of course we sell cranberry ingredients all year round,” says Jo Sims business development manager, Emma Raper. “But at this time of year they provide such a good association with Christmas that they are used more widely both in traditional Christmas fare and as a signature ingredient for other special Christmas lines, such as meat pies, sausages, cheese, confectionery, snacks and baked goods.”
“We’re already thinking about Christmas 2013,” says Raper, “and to remind customers that nothing says Christmas like cranberries; we’re sending them special packs of cranberry mince pies to show what a difference they can make as an ingredient in terms of taste, colour and texture.”
“Throughout 2012 there have been some interesting product launches featuring cranberries, particularly in bakery and snacking, and that is set to continue next year. But we are definitely seeing an increase in this seasonal opportunity too,” says Raper.
Jo Sims works with leading international fruit suppliers including Ocean Spray, Oxford Frozen Foods, Sunsweet Californian Prunes and Surfrut Apple.
