A bold festive move from Terry’s confectionery has seen the company expand its product portfolio to include a new Christmas Orange Hot Chocolate Bombe and minis mint crisp series, writes Neill Barston.
The classic British-founded business, which is now manufactured under new ownership in France, has embarked on a notable marketing campaign across digital and social media channels for its latest series, which builds upon prominent appearances at ISM in Cologne, Germany (pictured main image)
As the company noted, its latest two additions to its stable are part of an overall strategy of going ‘beyond orange’ – which the confectionery brand remains synonymous with as an iconic item of confectionery.
Last year, the firm launched its Chocolate Mint Ball, which is reported to have received a strong response from consumers, leading to the development of its new mint minis, which it has developed as a fresh take on Christmas indulgence. The product features mini segments of Terry’s milk chocolate made with crispy bits and natural mint flavouring in a shareable pack.

Significantly, Terry’s Chocolate Orange Hot Chocolate Bombe (below) marks the brand’s first hot chocolate product for retail. As the company explained, this features a chocolate orange shell filled with orange-flavoured marshmallows, ready to melt into a warming festive drink. The brand is launching the product off the back of its hot chocolate success with Costa Coffee in previous years, where it’s been a seasonal best-seller.

The partnerships with McDonald’s and Costa Coffee bring Terry’s Chocolate Orange to over 4,000 UK locations, showcasing its versatility and high consumer demand. These collaborations also create new opportunities for cross-promotion and visibility during the critical festive trading period. The new McDonald’s menu items include a Terry’s Chocolate Orange Pie, a ‘Terry-fic’ take on the fast food retailer’s iconic Apple Pie. Its Terry’s Chocolate Orange will also be making a return to the operator’s McFlurry menu, since first appearing in 2017. Both menu items will be available in McDonald’s until 5th January 2025, across all 1,400+ sites.
Moreover, the brand is making a return to Costa Coffee in the form of a luxurious Terry’s Chocolate Orange Hot Chocolate and Terry’s Chocolate Orange Muffin for the fifth year running, showcasing the ongoing appeal of Terry’s at Christmas. Both menu items will be available at Costa until 5th January, across all 2,600+ sites.
Lorène Decam, Senior Marketing Manager at Terry’s, enthused: ”The festive season is all about indulgence and Terry’s Chocolate Orange is synonymous with Christmas joy, making it into one in four Christmas stockings. Launching these new products and working with McDonald’s and Costa Coffee allows us to give fans even more ways to enjoy their favourite festive treat whilst reaching new audiences.”
