Cadbury drops cardboard trial
27 September 2010 – Cadbury is to cancel the trials of a cartonboard replacement for the Roses chocolate tin after buyers rejected the new packs. The round 975g tins were replaced with cartonboard last November on the promotion of saving 200 tonnes of steel per year and 45% in packaging weight.
Apparently, another consideration for the change may be the severe difficulties in supplies of board following price increases and lead time extensions.
