UK ethically-founded confectionery brand Choc Affair has unveiled its latest series of sustainable chocolate products including four varieties of buttons and a drinking hot chocolate flakes, writes Neill Barston.
The York-based business has launched its offerings at independent retailers, farm shops and tourist attractions, as the company seeks to extend and diversify its portfolio for the sector.
Notably, its new series features environmentally-friendly paper pouches which are 100% recyclable, stemming from its commitments to be as ethically sound in its sourcing and production as possible.

Choc Affair sources single origin, sustainably-grown cocoa from Colombia and the business pays an additional 5% per kilo which is invested back into reforestation project in the regions it sources its cocoa from. All of its chocolate is palm oil free, responsibly sourced and its packaging is certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC).
Linda Barrie (pictured with two of her previous chocolate series), founder of Choc Affair, said: “We’re incredibly proud to be launching these Button and Hot Chocolate pouches to our independent retail customers. We’ve worked hard to develop environmentally friendly paper pouches which are recyclable at kerbside, which supports our commitment to being an ethical, green business.”
The new 180g pouches of Chocolate Buttons include four flavours; Milk, Dark, Caramel and Oat M!lk, which is Vegan Society approved. The buttons have made with single origin chocolate and created to melt in the mouth.

As the company added, its new 200g Hot Chocolate Flakes are available in four flavours; Milk, Dark, Caramel and Oat M!lk, which is Vegan Society approved. The light delicate single-origin flakes melt beautifully to create a sumptuous drinking chocolate experience at home. The plant-based Oat M!lk flavours of Buttons and Hot Chocolate have been carefully developed to produce a rich and smooth cacao flavour.
Furthermore, the company’s chocolate buttons are available in 180g pouches with a RRP of £3.95 per pouch with a trade price of £2.50 per pouch and a mixed case of 12 for £30.
