Nestle opens Dubai factory
15 December 2010 – Nestlé has officially opened a new manufacturing plant in Dubai, set to become the third largest Kit Kat plant.
The $136 million facility will serve Nestlé markets across the region. Yves Manghardt, CEO and chairman Nestlé Middle East, says, “With such a facility we will be able to meet the fast-rising regional demand and eventually contemplate exporting to other regions.”
At a recent press conference, Paul Bulcke, Nestlé CEO, commented, “We see a growth potential for our integrated portfolio here. The growth is broad-based and that’s why we’re investing in the region.”
Nestlé has also confirmed the closing of its Castleford, UK plant, which employs 210 people. The plant makes a range of products including After-Eights and Toffee Crisp bars. Production is being moved to existing plants at Halifax and Newcastle.
