The Force is seemingly strong this summer with the global Oreo brand, which has launched a special limited edition Star Wars ‘Light side, Dark Side’ variety, reports Neill Barston.
Manufacturer Mondelez has moved to celebrate the huge sci-fi saga as it has continued its momentum more than 45 years since its original launch, with the franchise now under Disney’s ownership.
The company has continued the legacy of the movies with a number of spin-offs including Rogue One, Andor, The Mandalorian, and its latest series airing this month, The Acolyte.
As Mondelez explained of its new cookie offering, when fans open their packs, they will be greeted with either dark side or light side Star Wars Oreo Cookies either with red or blue creme, respectively, that’s infused with “kyber” sugar crystals that are said to be inspired by the crystals found in the franchise’s iconic Lightsaber weapons.
Furthermore, as the company explained, there are twenty characters to discover, with each cookie, fans will find embossments of corresponding dark side and light side characters such as Darth Vader, Darth Maul and a stormtrooper for the dark side pack, or Luke Skywalker, Yoda, and Princess Leia for the light side pack, with 10 characters each across the two varieties of the Special Edition Star Wars Oreo cookie packs.
“Pairing two tremendously loved communities to launch the Star Wars Oreo Cookie Packs has been an amazing experience,” said Nicole Fischer, Senior Brand Manager, Oreo, US. “We are continuing to make strides to cement our brand’s cultural relevance via strategic collaborations. We hope fans see how much we loved bringing their favourite stories to life, and that they have fun discovering the details we’ve included at every touchpoint.”

A taste of the summer
Another key freshly arrived offering from Oreo comes in the form of its limited-edition offering in time for the summer in the form of a limited edition ice cream mint chip variety, writes, Neill Barston.
Confectionery Production reported from this year’s Sweets & Snacks Expo in Indianapolis, where the company’s top treat was among star performers for the business (you can see can an exclusive video review of the event here).
The latest variety hits shelves from next week and takes its inspiration from a freezer aisle staple, and places it directly on the snacks shelves areas of stores, with the company anticipating strong seasonal demand.

It will offer fans the chance to celebrate the taste of summer with a refreshing, mint chip flavour creme with chocolatey chips sandwiched between two signature Oreo chocolate cookies with a waffle cone embossment. The limited-edition cookie will be available nationwide in the US, while supplies last.
