Whitakers Chocolates teams up with Whittaker’s Gin for special fondant edition
UK-confectionery businesses Whitakers Chocolates & Whittaker’s Gin have teamed up in a special joint venture to create dark chocolate pink gin fondant creams, writes Neill Barston.
The two very different companies both have a strong heritage within the region and felt that combining would deliver customers an intriguing alcohol-infused offering that would stand out from the crowd.
Whitakers Chocolates, who have been master chocolatiers in Skipton for over 130 years, have been making fondants for over six decades, and the company’s latest series sees them team up with Harrogate-based craft gin producer, Whittakers with its Pretty in Pink variety, which the companies hope will make for the perfect partnership.
William Whitaker, managing director of Whitakers Chocolates (pictured right, with Toby and Jane Whittaker of Whittaker’s Gin, enthused: “I am thrilled to be working alongside a fellow family run Yorkshire business such as Whittaker’s Gin. For us, it wasn’t just the synergy with the name (although it is great!) but working with another local business to create something special and all made right here in Yorkshire,” he explained of the new series, which has just begun production and is now available from both companies’ online stores, as well as being stocked in independent retailers across the country.
Toby Whittaker, managing director of Whittaker’s Gin, also welcome the new release. He said: “We have been looking to work with Whitakers Chocolates for some time, so when the opportunity arose to help produce a gin related chocolate product we jumped at the chance. Our ‘Pretty in Pink’ Gin really is the perfect partner for these dark chocolate creams. We use our award winning 42% Pink Particular which has dried Hibiscus Flowers within to add that vibrant pink colour you’ll see when tasting the chocolates”.
