Scottish food producer Aldomak has revealed it is on track to increase sales by 50% as it embarks on a period of sustained expansion of its product range.

The maker of tablet, fudge and macaroons says it will post turnover of £1.2 million ($1.52bn) for the year to April, up from £1m in 2014-15 and £750,000 the year before.

For next year, Aldomak projects sales of £1.9m, after winning a raft of new contracts and increasing activity with existing clients, including major UK companies.

Managing director Dario Riccomini says the company has also strengthened its management team and is investing in new systems and processes which “will underpin a sustainable capability for further expansion”.

Aldomak supplies Aldi, having recently increased and re-focused its product range in the supermarket retail group.

According to Riccomini, the company is on the brink of achieving British Retail Consortium accreditation, which will allow it to tender for a much wider range of contracts and facilitate expansion into the wider UK market.

Under its re-branding plans, the group will retain the Aldomak name, but introduce new brands which it says will open up opportunities outside its traditional Scottish customer base.
