13 December 2010 – The Multivac e-concept design study, an energy saving thermoforming packaging machine, has received the innovation award at the international packaging exhibition Salon de l’Emballage in France.

One of the thermoforming packaging machines built in accordance with the e-concept uses at least 20% less energy than thermoforming packaging machines built with traditional technology. This is achieved by the replacement of all the pneumatically driven components with efficient electrical drive technology.

In combination with forming and sealing processes, the e-concept makes the conventionally required provision of compressed air and cooling water unnecessary. The compact thermoforming packaging machine is both energy efficient and flexible in its choice of location since all that it requires is a power supply.
