ISM Japan welcomes key regional businesses

Confectionery companies from around South East Asia are gathering this week for the third annual ISM Japan event, writes Neill Barston.
As the only dedicated sweets and snacks trade fair in East Asia, ISM Japan is held in conjunction with “Anuga Select Japan,” part of the globally expanding “Anuga” series, as well as “FABEX Tokyo,” “Premium Food Show,” and “ProWine Tokyo.”
This joint event is expected to once again attract a large number of industry professionals. In addition, the concurrent “Dessert, Sweets & Bakery Festival,” part of FABEX Tokyo, is expected to further increase the attendance of confectionery- related professionals.
In its second edition in 2024, ISM Japan demonstrated its international presence with exhibitors from 15 countries.
The upcoming ISM Japan 2025 is expected to exceed last year’s numbers in both participating countries/regions and total exhibitors.
Continuing its growth, ISM Japan is solidifying its role as the new hub for confectionery industry insights in East Asia under the global “ISM” brand, known for the world’s largest sweets and snacks trade fair held in Cologne, Germany.
At the seminar area within the venue, renowned specialists from Innova Market Insights, a global leader in food trend analysis, will once again take the stage. This year’s theme, “Global Confectionery Trends 2025,” will uncover the latest and increasingly diverse trends in the global sweets industry from every angle.
Additionally, a Professor Emeritus from Hiroshima University will offer a historical perspective on one of the most iconic confections—chocolate—by exploring its key ingredient, cacao.
With the ongoing rise in inbound tourism, Japan’s confectionery market is becoming more active than ever in terms of imports and exports. Serving not only Japan but also the broader East Asian region, ISM Japan provides a valuable business matching platform for both exhibitors and visitors involved in the sweets and snacks industry.
