PFF Packaging has opened a £1 million ($1.3m) Innovation Centre which it says will significantly reduce the time taken to design and produce bespoke food packaging solutions.

In an industry where the average time to deliver concept designs and packaging prototypes is six weeks, PFF says its Innovation Centre will enable it to offer a complete packaging design-to-prototype solution on the same day.

The centre in Tyne & Wear, UK, features a Subtractive Rapid Prototype CNC milling machine, while the SOLIDWORKS 3D CAD software offers design functionality to speed up the design process.

As well as freeing up time for individuals, group managing director Andy Bairstow notes that the fast response service will also help manufacturers get their products into store more quickly.

“The Centre is a realisation of our vision and a significant gamechanger for PFF and our customers,” notes group managing director Andy Bairstow.

PFF Packaging also has a 100,000 sq ft manufacturing site and its headquarters in Yorkshire.
