Tangerine Confectionery recalls Butterkist popcorn

UK confectionery manufacturer Tangerine Confectionery has recalled four batches of its Butterkist Sweet Microwave Popcorn due to the contamination of rice weevil.

Three multipacks batches and one single pack batch has been withdrawn and shops that stock the affected product have been issued with a point-of-sale notice explaining to consumers why the popcorn has been recalled.

Customers can check their products for the wanted batch code and customers who have purchased the contaminated items will receive a full refund. A French supplier makes Butterkist Sweet Microwave Popcorn on behalf of Tangerine, even though a vast number of products are made in UK factories. Tangerine states that the problem has been identified and is limited to only these two Butterkist products.
