The Confectionery Foundation is set to boost industry careers at Sweets and Snacks Expo

The stage is set for Chicago in the US to become its its own version of Candyland when The Confectionery Foundation returns to the Sweets & Snacks Expo for the eighth consecutive year with the Next Generation career programme.

It will form part of an event-packed few days between 21-23 May at the McCormick Centre that will offer a platform for the region’s brightest developments across the snacks and confectionery segment of the market.

Dedicated to providing college students insight and opportunities, The Confectionery foundation will be hosting 100 students for a career immersion day. Students will get an exclusive inside look at the show floor through personalised tours, speak with industry professionals, gain valuable hands-on experience, and make connections with the more than 750 major companies at the expo for future employment opportunities.

Since 2012 more than 700 students have been introduced to opportunities through the Next Generation program. The class of 2018 was comprised of students representing 24 colleges in 12 states.

The Foundation is currently looking for its class of 2019. College students interested in learning more about working in the confectionery industry are invited to apply for the Next Generation programme. The Confectionery Foundation is a non-profit organisation that aims to build career connections for college undergraduate and graduate students.

As the organisation notes, the confectionery industry generates 54,000 direct jobs in the U.S. and another 550,000 indirect jobs created through their networks (source). In addition, it is focused on developing a blueprint for a sustainable pipeline of talent to fill those jobs. To learn more about its work visit confectionlink.org
