The classic Terry’s Chocolate Orange is back in expanded form this year, with additional flavours being unveiled for the iconic treat that has now been produced in France by Carambar&Co for the past five years, writes Neill Barston.

Fans of the brand had long-admired the distinctive chocolate segments that have been enjoyed by successive generations since they were first unveiled in York back in 1932.

But the now defunct Terry’s business sold the brand more than a decade ago to US major, Kraft, which then became Mondelez, which shortly afterwards downgraded the sized of its portions for the famous orange, from 175g, to 157g, which caused a notable reaction from long-term fans of the brand, keen that its heritage be preserved.

However, in 2017, the brand was bought out by France’s Carambar in 2017, and the Terry’s brand is now being produced in a newly revamped factory in Strasburg, which reportedly underwent a £10.5 million investment into an automated production line to handle its new acquisition.

This Christmas, fans of the brand can enjoy some notable additions in the form a creamy white flavoured 90g bar, as well as truffle options and another novelty with the release of an exploding candy variety for the famed brand. The series is also available as minis, which have further expanded the market for the classic chocolate confectionery.
