New general manager for Pom-Bear

UK savoury snack manufacturer, Intersnack, has appointed Sam Thain as factory general manager for its Corby production site, home of the Pom-Bear snack brand.
Thain joins Intersnack from PepsiCo, where he worked for six years in various operational roles, primarily in the Walkers Crisps and Quaker Oats divisions and most recently as UK productivity manager. Prior to PepsiCo, Sam worked for ten years in retail operations for Tesco.
He takes on responsibility for co-ordination of all functions at Corby, including site engineering, production, supply chain and logistics. Sam will also oversee future development of the site and serve on Intersnack’s UK Leadership team.
Pom-Bear is Intersnack’s much-loved teddy-shaped children’s snack and has been produced at Corby since the brand was first introduced to the UK in 1990. During 2012 Pom-Bear benefited from some significant investment in new products and marketing which boosted sales by over 30%.
Thain says, “This is an excellent opportunity for me to join a fast-moving business with manufacturing responsibility for one of the UK’s most dynamic snack brands. We have some exciting developments in the pipeline for Pom-Bear in 2013 and these should also drive some interesting innovation and substantial investment at the Corby site.”
