An innovative move from Hotel Chocolat will see the emergence of a key summer thirst quencher in the form of its Coconut Macroon iced drinking chocolate, reports Neill Barston.
The inventive line marks a key debut for the business, as it seeks to refresh a number of its product lines over the coming months, including a revamped core boxed selection offerings.
As the company noted, its latest iced drinking chocolate launch comes in response to a continued “coconut craze”, which saw its Coconut White become a permanent listing.
In a recent survey, almost half (48%) of Hotel Chocolat consumers said they would opt for a premium iced drinking chocolate over a traditional iced coffee this summer* which demonstrates a growing consumer shift toward cacao-based iced drinks as an alternative to caffeine-heavy options.
Speaking on the latest launch, Speciality Cocoa Chocolatier Yiotis Panagiotou, believed that it could well have a strong impact this summer, as companies seek out seasonal novelties designed to engage with consumers of all ages.
“Following the success of our Coconut White hot drinking chocolate, we wanted to translate the popular profile into an iced experience to be enjoyed in Summer. By combining the ‘patisserie’ trend with high-performance ingredients like coconut milk, we’ve created a product that responds to the consumer desire for innovation. It’s about taking that bakery-favourite profile and making it a café-quality serve.”
As the company noted, its latest launch is priced at £14.95 for a Box of 10 sachets, and is being made available in store, as well as at hotelchocolat.com and in Hotel Chocolat Cafés
