Ghoulish gingerbread monsters, ghost lollies and frightful frogs are all part of the devilishly delightful Birds Bakery Halloween special edition line-up, reports Neill Barston.
The UK business, which has focused its operations on the East Midlands, has gone all-in on the spooky season this month, with its series of seasonal offerings handmade at its Derby facility.
As the business explained to Confectionery Production, its latest limited launch brings a playful twist to a much-loved part of Birds’ heritage, with its spooky treats including a White Chocolate Ghost Lolly, Chunky Milk Chocolate Halloween Lolly, Milk Chocolate Frog, Gingerbread Monster, Belgian Chocolate Mice (milk, white and strawberry chocolate), as well as Halloween Cupcakes, starting from £1.20.
Alongside the new range, the popular Chocolate Orange Brownie makes its return to the autumn menu, which is now available across its stores – which are continuing to expand in the region.
The company has just opened a new store on the busy Horse & Jockey Yard in Ashbourne, replacing its former site with an inviting new environment showcasing its full range of treats.
Store investment
Furthermore, the business has also recently completed a major revamp of its store in Arnold, near Nottingham, featuring a brighter and more modern look that aims to stand out on the high street.

The refreshed store includes both seating and takeaway options, providing a welcoming space for customers to enjoy everything from a morning coffee to a family lunch or a well-earned sweet treat.
As the business added, the refurbishment forms part of Birds’ ongoing investment in its East Midlands stores, which have a strong heritage dating back to 1919.

In addition to the traditional bakes, pastries, and breads the company has gained a strong reputation for, the refurbished store will also serve a host of new products such as Chocolate Chip Cookied.
Jamie Bird, joint managing director at Birds Bakery, said: “Arnold has always been a special location for us, and we’re delighted to be reopening with a fresh new look. We’ve worked hard to make the store a welcoming, comfortable space for every customer while keeping everything people love about Birds at the heart of it.
“It’s really important to us that we invest in our communities, and we can’t wait to see both familiar and new faces enjoying the revamped store.”
