Classic British confectionery brand, Thorntons is marking a centenary of its special toffee and 75th anniversary of its Fabulous Fudge with two new celebratory releases, writes Neill Barston.

With the company now under parent ownership of Ferrero, it has sought to maintain its place in the affections of UK consumers with a number of new lines being released and showcased through its retail stores, backed by premium packaging.

As part of its product anniversaries, the brand has unveiled its new Chocolate-Covered Toffee and Fudge: small-batch toffee and fudge, created using traditional production methods, and now available with a coating of smooth milk chocolate.

Its second release takes the form of Chewy Special Toffee: A modern twist on a beloved classic—this softer, chewier version retains the rich, traditional flavour that has delighted generations, now with an irresistibly tender bite. A new addition to the Original Special Toffee.

As the brand also noted, through popular demand, the company is bringing back its  Viennese Truffle to its Continental box range, which has proved one of its flagship performers.

Emma Armer, Marketing Director at Thorntons, welcomed the company’s latest arrivals, which have been developed to offer a fresh twist on some of its most cherished product offerings.

She said: “Since the very beginning, Thorntons has been dedicated to using quality ingredients and ensuring every product is made with the same care and craftsmanship that sets us apart. As we unveil our refreshed branding, we’re not only celebrating our expertise, craft and heritage—we’re also embracing the future with exciting new formats that meet the evolving tastes of today’s consumers.”

The updated branding introduces a more modern, premium look and feel across the entire Thorntons portfolio, including the renowned Classic and Continental chocolate ranges. The new look and feel will also be extended to the Christmas and Easter ranges.
