UK confectionery group Fudge Kitchen has revealed that Siân Holt, founder and managing director of the business, has had to step down from decades with the business due to a sudden illness, writes Neill Barston.
The company, which has its manufacturing base near Canterbury, Kent, said that it was ‘with great sadness’ that it had confirmed the move, which comes just after the firm celebrated its 40th birthday earlier this year,
As the business noted, “Siân’s visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to creating superb confectionery has been instrumental in shaping Fudge Kitchen,” noting it had made considerable progress over the years. Under her leadership, it had supported and engaged in many community ventures, as well as gaining national honours recognising its operations.
Confectionery Production previously interviewed Siân at ISM in Cologne for its 50th anniversary edition as well as visiting its production site in Kent, which has recently gained notable investment to expand its capacity.
The company confirmed that the successor to its founder would be Linsey Priestley, who takes on the role of MD, having previously served as finance manager for the firm since 2020, with the firm noting that her deep understanding of the company’s values, operations, and financial intricacies will be instrumental in leading Fudge Kitchen forward whilst remaining dedicated to Siân’s legacy.
Siân’s husband and interim MD for the past year Martin Wise, moves to the post of Executive Chairman. He said: “I know that Siân will be delighted with these new appointments, and I have full faith in their joint ability to both retain what Siân has created over the last forty years. I am certain that they will continue to be worthy successors to her and will be well placed under Linsey’s leadership to take Siân’s legacy well into the future”. Fudge Kitchen remains committed to delivering the highest quality handmade confectionery while fostering a supportive and inclusive environment for its dedicated team. With Linsey Priestley at the helm, Fudge Kitchen is poised for continued success and to fulfil its mission of spreading joy, one delicious bite at a time
