Synergy Flavours has unveiled a fresh range of concentrated flavours targeting the protein bar market, expanding its sports nutrition offering in response to heightened global demand for health-influenced product ranges, reports Neill Barston.

According to the company, the new series includes  eight new options, and including chocolate, strawberry, and vanilla bean, as well as consumer favourites such as peanut, dark cookie crumb, and coconut.

The range also features natural versions of some of the flavour profiles, to offer flexibility to manufacturers in terms of labelling and positioning, and as Confectionery Production has reported, comes amid a sustained consumer demand for nutritionally-balanced confectionery and snacks series.

The launch comes at a time when protein and energy bars sales are on the rise in Europe, particularly in the UK, where major retailers continue to expand their sports nutrition offering. Chris Whiting, European Business Development Manager, comments: “The sports nutrition market is evolving at a rapid pace, and as protein bars become increasingly popular, there is a real opportunity for manufacturers to innovate in this space and attract new customers who may be interested in trying these products as part of an active lifestyle.”

Whiting also provided more insight on the flavours: “The new solutions are concentrated to deliver high-impact flavour, which, in turn, allows manufacturers to offer popular flavours while balancing costs, at a time when raw material and energy prices remain high. Taste is still king for many consumers, who should not, and will not, compromise on flavour. That’s why our new range has also been formulated with cost-optimisation in mind, meaning manufacturers can still create great-tasting products, and consumers can still enjoy their favourite flavours, without being forced to compromise on quality.”

Synergy has been innovating in taste solutions for nutrition for 25 years, working closely with its parent company, Carbery Group, which has been providing whey protein and nutrition solutions to global markets from Ireland since 1976. The new flavours enhance Carbery and Synergy’s wider performance nutrition portfolio, and are now available for customers looking to collaborate.
