WDS, D&F Sweets and Norevo held successful OTC symposium in Aachen, Germany

A recent symposium on the production of OTC confectionery took place under the heading “The rise of fortified gums & jellies – holistic market over-view from recipe development to production technology”. The organizers, Winkler and Dünnebier Süßwarenmaschinen, D&F Sweets and Norevo, invited a targeted audience from the confectionery industry to gain an overview of raw materials and product development, processing technologies and packaging technology, market trends as well as legal (GMP) aspects in 19 specialist presentations by international experts. The audience as well as the speakers took advantage of the breaks and the splendid evening dinner for extensive networking. The theoretical part was rounded off on the second day of the symposium with a live demonstration at the D&F Sweets laboratory.

The symposium was the first of its kind to bring together the fledgling OTC confectionery community.  The event, which was originally scheduled to take place after ProSweets in January 2022, has been postponed due to the pandemic. It was all the more gratifying that more than 100 registered participants attended the symposium even without the connection to a trade fair. The event location at Aachen’s Hotel Quellenhof was therefore filled to the maximum.

An anonymous survey resulted in consistently positive feedback on the event: “I enjoyed the symposium very much, it was informative, well organised and the topics were very interesting.” After the long period of online conferences, the personal contact with each other was appreciated by all participants: „Great networking session with interesting topics exactly fitting to our business. “

After successful implementation of the symposium, the organizers are now discussing ideas and topics for further events.
