The Sacmi Packaging and Chocolate equipment and systems group has strengthened its operations in the US, promoting Sebastian Clemens to lead its commercial operations as sales director, writes Neill Barston.

He had previously served as area manager, and his advancement within the business comes amid wider plans for development of its equipment offering within north America.

Clemens is based at the company’s US regional manufacturing and sales hub in Des Moines, Iowa, having grown notably under the leadership of regional vice president Mark Lozano.

The Sacmi Group Business Unit has been at the cutting edge of providing turnkey solutions for the chocolate industry through its successful Carle&Montanari and OPM brands. This includes moulding and wrapping solutions for every kind of cocoa-based product, flowpack lines (biscuits, bars and other bakery products) and secondary packaging solutions for food and non-food products.

With 115 years’ experience, the company provides chocolate producers with a skilled, reliable partner: a partner advising on appropriate solutions and provides close support throughout the process, from product preparation to primary and secondary packaging.

As Area Manager, Clemens has achieved excellent results in recent years. Now, in his new role, he’ll be able to draw on extensive experience in the industry, initially in packaging (where he handled the engineering-automation field for companies such as Bosch Sigpack Systems AG) and then in chocolate, where he was sales account manager for the Bühler Group.

“With Sebastian heading sales”, observes Mark Lozano, North American Operations VP of Sacmi Packaging & Chocolate, “we’re keeping the focus on steady growth and a strengthening of team skills so our American customers can count on innovative, ever-better services”.
