Divine buys first Fairtrade cocoa from Sierra Leone
The first container of cocoa from Sierra Leone’s only Fairtrade certified cooperative, Kpeya Agricultural Enterprise (KAE), has been bought by Divine Chocolate. Kuapa Kokoo, the Ghanaian co-operative that owns 45% of Divine Chocolate, agreed to Divine buying this shipment of cocoa from their fellow farmers in Sierra Leone.

Mars and Callebaut to collaborate on cocoa flavanol agreement
Mars and Barry Callebaut have signed a cross-licensing and cooperation agreement that is expected to increase the availability and uniformity of cocoa flavanol-rich chocolate products worldwide. This is seen as the beginning of more consistent standards for beneficial cocoa flavanol products and progress towards creating a commonly used standard for measuring useful flavanols in foods.

Raisio makes offer for Glisten
Raisio, the Finnish food group behind the Benecol brand, has made a €22.8m bid to buy UK snack maker Glisten. The Glisten board has recommended the offer to its shareholders, with the company's chairman David Wallis arguing the bid gives "a very good premium" to investors.
