Jelly Belly opens Shanghai office

10 May 2012 – Jelly Belly Candy Company has established a wholly-owned subsidiary headquartered in Shanghai, China. The office will focus on expanding distribution of the company’s confectionery products throughout China including the internationally recognised flagship brand Jelly Belly jelly beans.

“We have aggressively built our distribution network of Jelly Belly products to over 70 countries,” says Sharon Duncan, vice president of international business for Jelly Bell Candy Company. “We opened our own manufacturing facility in Thailand with offices there, and we have offices in Hamburg, Germany, and now in Shanghai, China to expand our presence in China.”

The company has had presence in China since 1996 through third party representation. The move to expand the candy business with a wholly owned business in order to keep pace with the rapidly changing Chinese consumer was several years in the planning.

“We have observed strong interest in Western brands in China as the country has grown economically and become a leader in consumer trends. The youthful, vibrant and aspirational consumers of China are an excellent match with the Jelly Belly brand image and goals,” says Duncan
