UK growth for Blue Diamond Almonds

3 October 2011 – Blue Diamond Almonds is keen to expand its presence in the UK market with its own brand consumer products and ingredients for food manufacturers.

The California based company is launching a major marketing campaign throughout Europe, but is particularly focused on raising the profile of its snacks and ingredients in retail, food service and the food manufacturing sectors in the UK, including confectionery, bakery and the growing breakfast cereal market.

Blue Diamond’s retail products include flavour coated almonds such as fiery wasabi and soy sauce, the classic sweet, hickory smoked flavour Smokehouse and indulgent honey roasted, while to inspire food producers and creative chefs it offers an array of whole, sliced, diced, split and slivered almond ingredients – perfect as inclusions in chocolate, sauces, dressings, soups, baked items and garnishes.

Blue Diamond general manager, Bill Morecraft, says, "We see huge potential in the UK for our consumer products and there will be a significant increase in marketing and advertising. Our consumer products are already featured in major high street stores such as Tesco, Sainsbury’s and Waitrose but we are aiming to make Blue Diamond’s almonds as popular in the UK as they are in America.

"Throughout Europe and the Middle East, we are continuing to expand our presence within the snack, bakery and chocolate categories, as well as explore opportunities within the foodservice segment."

Almonds, recognised as a healthy snack packed with protein, fibre, vitamin E, calcium and other important minerals, have grown in popularity across all food sectors as consumers become more adventurous. To meet this increasing demand, Blue Diamond has developed an extensive range of nutritious products.
