Sweet conveying

2 September 2011 – Gough Engineering has completed three Swinglink bucket elevators for Swizzels Matlow to convey wrapped sweets from the production lines to their packaging lines.

The Swinglink bucket elevators are designed in a standard ‘Z’ shape design as a one-in-one-out unit. Selections of sweets enter the 9 inch buckets at a rate of 50 buckets per minute, which is 11.45m per minute. The standard enclosed painted mild steel casing shelters an 87 bucket series supported by a mild steel chain network. Each elevator is powered by a 400V, three phase, 50Htz electrical supply with a control panel included for basic operation requirements.

Gough’s energy efficient bucket elevators are designed to provide an effective, cost efficient interface between process and packaging equipment. Gough systems are designed to ensure that all handling of product is undertaken using methods that are inherently gentle and cause minimum distress to the products being moved. The various solutions in the Gough range allow for efficient handling of a variety of materials from the finest powders and food stuff to aggregate at handling rates of 1m3 to 500m3 per hour.

Gough has supplied Swizzles with numerous bucket elevators in recent years, which convey various confectionery foodstuffs including lovehearts, rainbow drops, refreshers and other popular wrapped confectionery.
