Competition hots up for Q awards

Supermarket own brands look set to scoop several of the UK’s Quality Food Awards next month.

The Q’ Awards, which are in their 29th year, are open to both branded and own brand products, and organisers say the competition between the two sectors this year has been fierce’.
Products are judged on taste, texture, aroma, appearance, packaging, value for money, nutritional values, ingredients, innovation, key selling points and success in the marketplace, by a panel of top chefs, nutritionists and industry experts.
This year’s shortlisted entries in the Confectionery category are: Specially Selected Luxury Butter Fudge, Aldi; Premium Chocolate Squares, Lidl UK; and Single Estate Dark Chocolate Assorted ” 60% Cocoa, Lidl UK.
Winners will be announced at a gala ceremony in London on 27 November.
