Nestle begins heat-treatment for dough

Nestle USA will start using heat-treated flour in its Toll House refrigerated cookie dough. The move comes after the company had to pull the product off shelves recently when the FDA found evidence of E. coli contamination.

One Virginia, US plant will stop production until 25 January to convert the plant for the heat-treated flour. The conversion will include testing ingredients before they enter the facility, rigorous environmental sampling throughout and testing of finished product before it is shipped to customers.
