The end of stand-alone Australian confectionery association

Confectionery Manufacturers of Australasia (CMA) members have decided to cease operating as a stand-alone association and join the general Australian Industry Group (Ai Group). Ai will establish a specific confectionery sector within the organisation.

Ai Group chief executive, Heather Ridout, says, “As the successor to CMA, Ai Group is pleased to welcome CMA members to the new Ai Group CMA Sector.”
According to the association the new grouping will build and expand on the services previously provided to members by CMA with stronger industry representation and broader resources.

“Ai Group has had a strong representation in the confectionery industry for many years so the creation of this new CMA sector within Ai Group will benefit both Ai Group members in the confectionery industry and new members coming into Ai Group from CMA,” Ridout adds.

A number of former CMA staff are joining Ai Group. CMA chief executive officer, Trish Hyde, notes, “Ai Group’s CMA sector is the right strategic fit for the confectionery industry. The membership breadth and representational reach of Ai Group combined with a commitment to confectionery issues makes this new Ai Group sector a winning formula. I’m looking forward to seeing the sector’s strength grow.”
