PFM to release new equipment at Foodex
Packaging systems manufacturer PFM has confirmed it will be showcasing a range of equipment including its Pearl flow-wrapper at the Foodex event in Birmingham, UK, in April.
According to the company, its latest series was developed to provide smaller operations with all the efficiency advantages of multi-axis servo drive, but at an entry level cost. As the business explained, the machine has reportedly gained an increased level of recognition in the food industry, particularly to replace ageing mechanically driven machines.
“Our production can involve fairly short runs of different size items, which means the machine could need to be set up five or six times a day,” explains one small user in the bakery business. Ease of set-up saves labour costs and allows us flexibility with staff, who might be unable to set up a mechanical machine.”
The Pearl can run up to 120 packs a minute, with improved flexibility, accuracy, no-product/no bag and misplaced product protection.
Also featured is PFM’s radically new approach to bagger design, the R series. With advanced electronic control of a much-reduced number of film feed rollers, the machine is notably fast for an intermittent motion unit – up to 130 bags a minute. Its simple system of automatic film centring and tracking makes reel changeover and machine management quick and straightforward.
