Nestlé Japan unveils ruby chocolate KitKat

Nestlé Japan has become the first consumer brand in the world to launch a ruby chocolate KitKat.

KitKat Chocolatory Sublime Ruby is available in KitKat Chocolatory stores across Japan and South Korea, as well as online.

KitKat is the first to offer this fourth type of chocolate – next to dark, milk and white – to consumers five months after ruby chocolate was introduced. Ruby chocolate was created by Barry Callebaut, a global manufacturer of chocolate and cocoa products.

Ruby chocolate is made from the ruby cocoa bean. According to Barry Callebaut, no berries, berry flavour or colour are added. Sublime Ruby was created by pâtissier Yasumasa Takagi.

Antoine de Saint-Affrique, CEO of Barry Callebaut, says, “Nestlé was very quick in spotting the trend and in introducing a ruby chocolate version of KitKat, which will entice consumers across Asia and beyond.”
