Diary dates  

After a busy few months of travelling for various international trade shows, conferences and factory visits, it has got me thinking about upcoming events, including ProSweets Cologne and ISM.

Confectionery Production will be exhibiting at ProSweets again next year in hall 10.1, stand B021. We had great success at the show last year and hope to have an even better show in 2018. Both our December 2017/January 2018 and February 2018 issues will be available to pick up.

One key focus at ProSweets Cologne next year will be ingredients for sweets and snacks, highlighting sugar reduction and reformulation through smart solutions. With demand for less artificial ingredients, less sugar and fat rising with more natural tastes and colours for sweets and snacks growing in popularity.

Ingredients manufacturers are supporting the industry with functional carbohydrates that are intended to replace the traditional granulated sugar without compromising the quality. When combined with plant fibres, these solutions can reduce the calories and at the same time improve the mouthfeel, creaminess and texture.

ProSweets Cologne is once again being staged parallel to ISM, which will highlight key trends and current developments in sweets and snacks with presentations at the expert stage and through new products over at the new product showcase.
