Sacmi reorganises chocolate business unit

Italian machinery supplier Sacmi is reorganising its chocolate processing, wrapping and packaging business unit.

For some years now, the chocolate sector – the hub of the group’s food division – has been the focus of a reorganisation and expansion plan Sacmi. The restructure began with the takeover of modelling technology company Carle&Montanari, and continued with further takeovers and mergers that led to the creation of the first Italian chocolate industry hub. In 2016, the hub generated sales worth nearly €120 million.

Heading the business unit’s general management team is Giovanni Campolungo, Sacmi’s CFO, who succeeds Moreno Roncato, while Filippo Ferrari takes over as managing director of CM-OPM.

Meanwhile, Rocco Furone will lead the business unit’s primary packaging sales team.

The reorganisation of the business unit is part of a wider chocolate processing and packaging plan that sees the Sacmi Group focusing on the development of bakery solutions and on the growth of all primary and secondary packaging operations.
