Ferrero looks to growth with new CEO

Italian chocolate and confectionery giant Ferrero has appointed Lapo Civiletti as its new CEO, while Giovanni Ferrero is set to assume the role of executive chairman.

The move, Ferrero says, will strengthen the company’s position in the chocolate and sweet packaged food market worldwide and accelerate growth momentum.

Current CEO Giovanni Ferrero will assume the role of executive chairman, focusing on long-term strategies and new business directions to enhance the group’s growth and globalisation, in addition to guiding the strategic functions and boards/committees. Civiletti, meanwhile, will focus on short and mid-term goals for the company.

The changes will take effect from 1 September.

“I am very confident that Lapo Civiletti will ensure continuity in reaching business goals and effectively support the Group in its growth objectives,” says Ferrero. “I am sure that the new governance will boost our company’s growth whilst staying true to our roots.”

Civiletti adds, “This is a momentous time for the group, and we are ready to capitalise on the new opportunities available to our company.

The company has also appointed Aldo Uva as head of the open innovation and Marco Borghesi as chief strategy officer.
