Kraft increases sweet efforts in Russia

Following continuous double-digit annual growth in the company, Kraft Foods may expand confectionery and bakery factories in Russia.

Russian demand has been climbing for the world’s second-largest food-maker’s products with faster sales this year, reaching more than 20 billion rubles (€548 million).

After purchasing a Groupe Danone SA unit in 2007, Kraft became Russia’s largest biscuit maker. The company and Nestle have been expanding in Russia to tap higher demand as last ten years, up to and including 2008, has seen consecutive years of economic growth raise consumer spending.

It is even said to be considering increasing the capacity of its second-largest chocolate plant in Pokrov. There is also the possibility of an expansion in the biscuit plant in Sobinka, Vladimir, due to open in October this year.
