What’s in store for 2017?

What a year 2016 was. The UK decided to exit the European Union, Donald Trump was elected as US president and Toblerone chocolate bars were reduced in size.

These and many more events got the industry talking in 2016, but the true impact may not be felt until this year – when the UK triggers Article 50 and Trump’s inauguration takes place. As for the size of chocolate bars, only time will tell whether more brands will follow suit in shrinking their formats to offset increasing costs.

So what is exactly in store for 2017? Are you forecasting positive growth and expansion or are you scaling back in order to keep costs down? Let us know your plans by emailing [email protected] or message us on Twitter @confectionprod or LinkedIn. Your answers could form part of a feature article on the challenges and opportunities for confectioners in 2017.

Later this month, we’ll be sending our February issue to press. In it, readers can look forward to a look at the trends in weighing and inspection for the confectionery market, an exclusive interview with Stute Foods, as well as show previews for the upcoming ProSweets and ISM trade fairs. While it’s too late to submit anything for the February issue, we have many other features that you can contribute to in 2017. Click here to view Confectionery Production’s forward features list.
