Bakkavor Desserts Newark to create 370 jobs

Europe’s largest producer of fresh cream cakes, Bakkavor Desserts Newark, plans to create 370 jobs at its facility in Nottinghamshire, UK, to meet increased demand.

The site, which each year produces around 190 million packs of desserts, including éclairs, doughnuts, tarts and slices, fruit and chocolate trifles as well as profiterole stacks, employs 1,700 people.

Driven by the popularity of desserts such as fresh choux buns and trifles, the business is looking to introduce a night shift and boost its day shifts.

New positions include manufacturing technicians, food handlers, section leaders and section managers at the Newark Industrial Estate site.

“This is an exciting period of growth for our business,” says Nigel Butterworth, head of site operations at Bakkavor Desserts Newark. “We are creating additional capacity to meet increased customer demand for our range of products and are looking for people with a can do attitude to join our friendly team across day, evening and night shifts with a range of skills and experience.”

Meanwhile, Freshcook, which is part of Bakkavor, is looking to recruit over 100 people at its factory in Lincolnshire, UK. Freshcook produces a variety of chilled products from high end ready meals to delicatessen items for UK retailer Marks & Spencer.

Due to increased demand, the business is looking to add operative roles across day and night shifts as well as a number of management positions. The factory currently employs 600 people.
