Rowntrees faces the music

Rowntrees in the UK was under fire recently for allegedly shrinking its packs but keeping the price the same.

Since an announced packaging revamp last month, the number of sweets in each pack has fallen. The price has remained at £1 in most supermarkets – this used to see customers being treated to 44 Fruit Pastilles, but now they get 39.

Nestlé provided us with the following comment: “We have made changes to the packaging of our Rowntree’s sharing bags by investing in a new pouch format. This new packaging is easy to open, free standing and re-sealable. Our full range across: Fruit Pastilles, Fruit Gums, Jelly Tots, Tooty Frooties and Randoms, is now available in the pouch format at one single, consistent size.”
