Vive la Paris

Despite recent events in Paris, the vibe here at Food ingredients Europe, which is being held at the Villepinte exhibition centre in the French capital, is a positive one. Although I understand that certain exhibitors have chosen not to attend this year, there are no obvious empty stands and there is a real buzz at this popular event.

This year the focus for ingredients suppliers is on showcasing the ways in which they can help producers to follow key consumer trends including clean label, sustainability, premiumisation and transparency. There is also a focus on translating these concepts into the language of the consumer, ensuring they are easy to understand.

As always for someone who has a very poor sense of direction, the first day at any show was spent getting my bearings and working out how to get from one appointment to the next using the most direct route. Thankfully Villepinte is fairly easy to navigate and today I will be out and about once again discovering more about the innovations available for confectionery, snack and sweet bakery producers.
