Liquorice cutting goes automated

Ajax Equipment has supplied Maxilin with a cutting wheel for the production of liquorice.

Established in 1946, Maxilin produces a range of traditional sweets including liquorice flyers and Vimto lollipops and sweets. Both located in Bolton, UK, Ajax and Maxilin have a long history of working together.
The 235mm diameter aluminium cutting wheel features four PTFE blades and will be used to cut multiple strands of liquorice travelling on a conveyor to a precise length.

Maxilin managing director, Joanne Williams, comments: “We were looking to convert the liquorice cutting, a previously manual process, to a fully automated one. Our long working relationship with Ajax Equipment meant they understood the process and were able to supply a liquorice cutting wheel to produce the high quality confectionery products desired.”
